We received tickets to see Pretty Woman as a gift. The tickets included parking. When we arrived, it was cold and blowing and dark out. There was no place to take a ticket or show our ticket information at the parking garage. When we got inside the poor people working The Fisher Theater had to ask everyone to scan a QR code to get your parking validated. No problem! EXCEPT, you had to know your license plate number. Well, we stood in a big crowd of people that had no idea what their license plate was (including us). We could run back out to the parking garage in the cold and dark, and possibly be late for the show or just wait to get a bill and pay it (even though it was included in our tickets). We asked how much the parking was and they said $9. We opted to enjoy our evening and just pay the $9 when we received the invoice. It came today and it was $26. In my opinion, this is poor customer service and I hope that someone fixes the current process in order for it to be reasonable for patrons. Do better

Parking At Grand Circus Detroit

Perhaps unsurprisingly, parking options in the heart of the motor city are plentiful.

DISCLAIMER: This is being written by an early adopter (and a new-comer to the area).  Please, please, please pitch in with additional tips (what's parking like when the Tigers play? or the Lions? or the Bears? What about when the Detroit Opera has a show?  Does it vary between winter and summer?  Help your fellow users!)

The underground garage across the street is closest, perhaps warmest, but also possibly the most expensive ($15/day).  Note it is also where you'll likely end up if you are in a rush, i.e left later than you wanted to, didn't look/plan/call ahead, and if you're the type of person who just follows the "PARKING SIGNS".  Don't be that person.  That person is gullible, disorganized and impulsive.  If you are that person you will pay (literally) for your shortcomings.  Think of it like a casino (a tax on the poor), or... but I digress.  YOU are not that person (since you're on Parkopedia :-), i.e. you, my dear watson, are already a step ahead.  Keep reading for better options.

Various surface lots (cheaper, but you'll have to scrape your car if it snows, which it will) are your next closest option.  A solid free option (safety in numbers!) is the MGM grand parking structure, although it will add a bit of time to your commute (15 minutes walking, or 20 minutes waiting, walking, and riding the bus).  As an added bonus, you get some sunshine and a chance to take in some of the city's architecture.

Thanks for reading, park safe and park smart, and help out by writing/editing!
