Staff were super helpful when I had a ticket mix up. Would be happy to park here again!

DO NOT PARK HERE!! My car was broken into on 9/9 and no one will even answer the phone at the garage for me to talk to to try and get video from.

Parking in San Francisco

It can be a real challenge to find a parking spot in San Francisco. To help you with that, Parkopedia lists information on public and private parking lots as well as on-street meters, in other words, everything you might need to know to have a pleasant parking experience in SF!

There are many garages and parking lots in San Francisco. To narrow down your search, try looking in a specific area: North BeachFinancial District, SoMa or simply type your destination address in the search box.

Parking rates may vary from $2 up to $12 per hour, depending on the area and additional services provided, such as:

  • valet parking
  • EV charging
  • presence of attendant or on site security

Most parking lots will charge around $30 per 24hrs, additional $5.00 to $20.00 fees being applied to trucks and SUVs.

If you like the idea of parking in someone’s private driveway, look for the blue markers on our maps and contact the owner directly to arrange parking.

On-street parking

There are 5 parking areas in San Francisco and they are divided based on:

  • parking rates
  • meter operating hours
  • maximum stay

Most meters are in operation from 8am to 6pm Monday through Saturday. There are some exceptions, however. To check rates and operating hours, search for your chosen location on our map or check the actual meter.

Currently San Francisco is implementing a demand-responsive pricing service in several pilot areas. Rates in those areas can vary from $0.25 up to $6.00 per hour. To find out more please visit SFpark website.

You can pay with coins, SFMTA card or by cell phone. Some meters accept payment via credit card (by the end of 2014 all meters will be upgraded to take credit cards).

If you’re not sure whether you’re allowed to park in a certain area, don’t park! If in doubt, it may be cheaper to park in a garage, than to get your car towed and/or have to pay a fine for parking in a restricted place. See additional instructions on how to park legally in San Francisco on SFMTA website and don’t forget to curb your wheels when parking on the street!
