Parking in Edinburgh
As with any major city, parking in Edinburgh can be expensive and difficult to find.
Park and Ride
To encourage people from taking their cars into the city centre, The City of Edinburgh Council runs 6 Park & Ride facilities around Edinburgh: Ingliston, Hermiston, Straiton, Sheriffhall, Newcraighall and Ferrytoll.
Parking at these sites is free except for Newcraighall where it costs 50 pence per day. During peak hours, buses depart for the city centre every 10 minutes.
City Centre
City centre street parking costs £0.70 to £2.00 an hour depending on the location. You may park between 15 minutes and six hours. In the central zones, stays are usually limited to 4 hours maximum.
Pay and display spaces operate from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm, Monday to Saturday in the central zones, and usually between 8.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday in the peripheral zones.
Motorcycle Parking
On-street parking for motorcycles without side cars is free within Edinburgh.
