Took us over 40 minutes to exit the garage because their equipment was not functioning properly. Workers were unable to correct the problem and we were trapped while they made everyone back up.

This is the most convenient location of all garages around the area. For $9.00 all day weekend and 5pm till 11.59pm Mon-Fri? you got to be kidding me if you complain about this garage. Yes, there are times they close the garage but you have building security at the lobby 24/7 that will let you in if you park in the garage and of course must pay by credit card on the automated exit. Oh, I left my car for two nights as I was staying at the J.W Marriott and only paid $25/day try that at the hotel you will be lucky for double that amount.

Only problems were, signs posted led me to believe this was an automated 24 hour garage. Pure coincidence that I return basically seconds before it closes at 7pm on the Sunday I was there. Also, since I leave only seconds after closing, it only accepted cards, and not the cash I set aside for parking payment. Didn't want to put another expense on my card after a full day of seeing the DC sites.

This parking garage is HORRIBLE. Signs do not reflect what they actually charge, and the employees have no sympathy or ability to deal with discrepancies citing "management is responsible". 100% recommend parking at the other great garages in the neighborhood and avoid this one like the plague.

Parking in Washington DC

Being the capital of the United States, Washington attracts millions of visitors every year. If you happen to be one of them, check out the following guidelines designed to help you with finding parking in Washington DC.

Parking in Washington is plentiful but you’re looking for cheap parking in DC, downtown is definitely not the place to find it. The average hourly rate for public parking is $9-$10 and if you need parking for 24 hours, be prepared to pay upwards of $35. Monthly parking costs around $250 per month.

You may also be interested in the following parking maps that will give you an idea of how much you’ll be paying for parking at Verizon Center, Union Station, National Mall, Dulles International Airport, or near major sightseeing places such as Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial Park or Museum of Natural History.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) manages approximately 18,000 on-street parking spots in DC. There are two parking zones in Washington DC:

  • Premium demand zone: $2.30/hour. Meters are enforced 7am-10pm, Mon-Sat.
  • Normal demand zone: $2.30/hour. Meters are enforced 7am-6:30pm, Mon-Sat.

Though it might look expensive, the hourly rate in premium and normal demand zones is lower than the average on-street rate in other major US cities where rates can start at $3.00.

Motorcycle parking costs $0.25/hour citywide.

Remember the ‘Washington-parking-rule-of-thumb’: avoid parking during rush hour and read the parking signs carefully!
