The person working on the evening of 10/2/19 had left the kiosk. When I drove in there was no gate. I went into Rite Aid for 3 min and came out. As I was leaving I showed her my receipt but she insisted that I pay the full amount of 6.00 and threatened me stating that she had my license and was going to send me something. I had the Rite Aid Manager come out to speak with her and tell her that they would validate my parking. She insisted that I needed to pay. I believe she is pocketing the money and should be terminated.

Parking in Los Angeles

Though it might seem like there would be plenty of lots, garages or on-street parking spaces in Los Angeles, finding an empty spot can be a real challenge. Please take a look at our maps and consider the following tips for LA parking to improve your chances of finding that desired spot!

Prices for metered street parking in Los Angeles vary from $0.50 up to $6.00 per hour depending on the time of day (higher prices are charged during the busiest hours in the afternoon). LADOT has implemented a demand-based pricing program in downtown Los Angeles where street blocks with the highest demand for parking charge higher fees than the blocks with a lower demand for parking (LADOT uses parking sensors to find which blocks are the busiest). You can check the rates and parking availability on the LA Express Park website.

There’s also plenty of off-street parking in LA city. Lots normally charge $2 for 15 mins with a maximum of $40 per 24 hours.

It might be difficult to find parking around the busiest locations in LA. Check our detailed maps if you have trouble finding parking at

As a rule of thumb, always check for signs indicating prohibited or restricted parking. These are marked as colored curbs or parking signs. If you were unlucky enough to get a parking ticket, but think you parked correctly, check back with LADOT for information regarding paying or appealing a parking ticket.
