Parking in New Orleans

Roughly two categories of people can face parking problems in New Orleans – tourists who are new to the city and residents who have trouble interpreting confusing parking signs. Parking is anything but cheap in New Orleans. Hourly rates are between $5 and $12, with an average 24 hour rate of $21.00. You can save a bit by parking before 9 am (early bird rate) however you won’t be able to leave earlier than the preset hour (usually about 3 pm). Also, you cannot stay longer than 6 pm. Monthly rates are around $145.00.

On street parking is enforced from Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm. Short term meters allow 2 hours of maximum stay for $1.50 per hour. Long-term meters allow a maximum stay of up to 10 hours for $1.00 each hour. Be careful to check for prohibited parking in designated rush hour zones from 7 am - 9 am and 4 pm - 6 pm.

On-street parking can be paid by coins, credit and debit cards and using the Parkmobile app.
