I used the parking garage at the mall on [12/11/16]I went to pay at the machine and it wouldn't use take my bank card so then I used cash. As I waited for the machine to give me the change and the receipt I only received one, which was the receipt. And on the receipt it has change shortage printed on it. So I called the company who makes the machine and they couldn't help me. So then I called the garage manger and he tells me that I have FIVE days to get over there and get my money back. The other problem is he leaves the office at 5:30 which isn't a great time because the mall is still open and nobody else can help me with my issue. There has to be a better way to fix this situation because this is unacceptable.

Parking in Jersey City

There are many parking lots, garages and on-street parking spots in Jersey City, but finding one can be tough.

On-street parkingsigns in Jersey City can be difficult to interpret. To park on the majority of streets for more than 2 hours you’ll need to have a parking permit. For residents of Jersey City this is very convenient, as permits are cheap ($15 per year) and can be bought at the Jersey City Parking Authority. However, non-residents risk a citation if they park for more than a couple of hours in these zones.

Commercial lots and garages charge an average hourly rate of $8.40 and an average rate of $28.00 for 24 hours. Long-term parking varies from $165 to $225 per month.

Take a look at the parking maps for specific districts in Jersey City to find out even more detailed information.

If you don’t want to try your luck at finding parking downtown, you can park at one of the PATH stations and take public transport into the city. This will not only save you from having to find a parking space, but it will also save you some money, as parking at PATH stations is much cheaper than in downtown.

Parking tickets issued in Jersey City can be paid at NJMCdirect.
