My family and I parked 2 vehicles on January 7th 2023.As the worker was exiting the parking lot, my husband’s car was driven incredibly recklessly. We were a party of 8, & we all heard the loud sound of the car scraping the incline as he exited the parking lot. The 2nd vehicle belonged to my parents. They charged us an additional $15 on top of what I had already paid through ParkWhiz. When asked what this charge was for, I was met with uncertainty and confusion from the workers. As a customer, I find it reasonable to know what I’m paying for. Due to their lack of an explanation for the additional money, I was hesitant to pay immediately. I asked to speak to the manager, and the worker told me he's the manager. When I asked for his name— with immense attitude, he said he didn’t have a name…a highly unnecessary comment. The customer service was utterly unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. The gentleman should not be employed at this parking garage. This incident happened around 3:45PM January 7th 2023.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced by any vendor in the city. The attitudes and incompetence were outrageous. Run far away - and fast.

Parking in New York

New York is one of the busiest and most densely populated cities in the US. Parking rates in NYC are one of the highest in the country. Here are some ideas on how to survive when looking for a place to park in New York.

Commercial garages in Manhattan charge $12-$18 per hour and can go up as high as $55 per 24 hours (SUVs and oversized vehicles are charged additional fees). It’s a good idea to look for early bird and overnight specials or coupons for discounted parking!

A good alternative is to park in the suburbs and then take public transport to downtown:

On-street parking

On-street parking in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island is $1 per hour, while on-street meters in Manhattan charge from $1.50 to $6 per hour, depending on the area. Meters take quarters and credit cards.

On-street rates in PARK-Smart areas will vary depending on the time of day and demand.

On-street signage can be confusing. Check the NYC parking regulations, so that you don’t get a pricey ticket.
